The full Australian cast for the global musical sensation MAMMA MIA! has been announced, with Natalie O’Donnell leading the pack. Starring as mother-of-the-bride Donna Sheridan (the role brought to life by Meryl Streep in the 2008 film) the production will see O’Donnell coming full circle, having played the role of Donna’s daughter Sophie in the 2001 Australian premiere.

The role of Sophie will be played by emerging young Australian actress Sarah Morrison, fresh from her starring role as Lisa in the sell-out musical Ladies in Black.

Set on a Greek island paradise and inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs, the heart-warming tale centres around a young bride to be who sets out to discover the identity of her father; bringing three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

“We are thrilled with the incredibly talented creative team and cast we have assembled to bring this story and these songs to life on stage night after night,” says Louise Withers, who along with Michael Coppel and Linda Bewick, will be producing the show.

Also joining the cast is actress Alica Gardiner, best known to Australian Audiences for her role as nurse Kim Akerholt in award-winning series Offspring. Gardiner will be playing Donna’s vivacious and loyal friend Rosie.

The confirmed cast also includes Ian Stenlake, Phillip Lowe and Josef Ber set to star as Sam, Harry and Bill, Sophie’s three potential ‘fathers,’ Jayde Westaby as Tanya, Monique Sallé as Ali, Jessica Di Costa as Lisa, Sam Hooper as Pepper, Alex Gibson-Giorgio as Eddie and Stephen Mahy as Sky, Sophie’s adoring fiancé.

The Australian production will be Directed by Helpmann Award winner Gary Young, with the creative team also including Choreographer Tom Hodgson, Musical Supervisor Stephen Amos, Set Design by Linda Bewick, Costume Design by Suzy Strout and Lighting Design by Gavan Swift.

The all new Australian premiere will commence in November 2017 at the Canberra Theatre Centre. It will then move to the Lyric Theatre, QPAC in Brisbane from December 26 before playing the other major tour cities on the live performance circuit in 2018, including Sydney (from 11 February), Perth (from 15 May), Melbourne (from July 10) and Adelaide (from 9 October).

Tickets are currently on sale for the Canberra season, while Brisbane tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday May 24, 2017. Tickets for other cities will go on sale as the year progresses.
