Book Review: Dr. Karl’s new book Karl, The Universe and Everything offers facts and figures about everything!

Dr. Karl Kruszelnickior Dr. Karl as we all know him, really needs no introduction. He is an Australian institution. Karl, The Universe and Everything is his 43rd book! That is a lot of books, and a lot of knowledge, but he is still keen to share his knowledge, and make it fun. There are no boring moments in this new book.

Dr Karl, the Julius Sumner Miller Fellow at the University of Sydney, is a qualified medical doctor, engineer, physicist and mathematician. Sounds full on doesn’t it! He is also the proud recipient of the Ig Nobel Prize and has been named one of Australia’s Living National Treasures.

They say every day is a school day, and reading a chapter or two (or as many as you’d like) of this new book each day and you’ll surely expand your knowledge with facts and figures you can pass on to family, friends or work colleagues. Karl, The Universe and Everything lets readers find out how long it takes to poop; what Dr Karl’s favourite organ is. What the book smells like? and why we forget things before the age of six.

All up it is a fantastic ensemble of facts and figures that will keep your brain ticking. There are often references to other books he’s written when discussing facts, so you may end up buying all his books.I found this book to be a fantastic a fantastic, enjoyable and thought provoking read. My husband is now so sick of me saying “Well, Dr Karl says this, or Dr Karl says that” that he’s going to read it for himself.

Karl, The Universe and Everything as you’d expect has many laugh out loud moments, and features some fun but simple illustrations from Jules Faber. It would be a great present for someone who is difficult to buy for, and will appeal to teenagers and octogenarians alike.

Karl, The Universe and Everything is available now through Pan Macmillan Australia
