Arts review: Point & Shoot – An Exploration of Music Photography, Crowbar, Brisbane (6/9 – 9/9)

Point & Shoot – An Exploration of Music Photography has returned to Brisbane’s Crowbar for it’s 2016 run. AU Reviewer Jodie Fairclough headed to the Fortitude Valley venue to check out this year’s offering.

Curated once again by The Brisbane Collective, Point & Shoot is a four day showcase of some of the local area’s most talented music photographers and videographers.

The 2016 exhibition included photographers Amanda Brenchley, Mitch Lowe, Stephen Booth, and Andrew Wade, while images showcased a variety of bands and musicians, from Parkway Drive to Iggy Pop, and Metallica to Violent Soho.

Taking over the street level space of Crowbar, the exhibition isn’t a large one – just a few small, temporary walls and the wall leading to the bathroom – but it’s the perfect venue for a showcase of this nature, a fact perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that some of the photographs on display were actually taken in the venue.

Running until September 9th, there’s only a few more days to catch the showcase and see these photographs in a fairly unique setting. Well, until next year anyway!

Point & Shoot – An Exploration of Music Photography is on at Crowbar, in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, until September 9th. The exhibition is open from 12pm to 10pm on Thursday and 5pm to 10pm on Friday, entry is free, though under 18s are not permitted after 5pm.

Photographs and prints are available for purchase, either through Crowbar or directly from the photographers. For more information, see The Brisbane Collective’s event page.
