The Linden Postcard Show is in its 35th year and this year there will be over 1200 artworks on display available for purchase. The Postcard Show runs from 6th September to 2nd November in the gallery in St Kilda in Melbourne. This is a much loved fixture in the Melbourne Art scene.
As part of Linden’s commitment to making the Postcard Show accessible for all, First Nations artists and social partners receive free entry, while tertiary students receive discounted entry. On top of that. ten artists from Ernabella Arts, Australia’s oldest, continuously running Indigenous art centre, located in the Northern Territory, will exhibit ceramics and paintings. There will also be 15 artists from Arts Project Australia including Alan Constable, Bronwyn Hack, Chris Mason, Chris O’Brien and Mark Smith, with a range of pieces.
While it is described as a postcard show, there will be a variety of 2 and 3-dimensional works, at affordable prices. This is a chance for both up and coming and established artists to exhibit their works. There are a range of prizes to won including a $2000 sculpture award, and a $1000 First Nations Award. It’s a vibrant and inclusive exhibition that champions accessibility, variety, and community.
This year there will be a Closing Celebration on Sunday 2 November, 1–4PM. Artists and buyers can collect works directly off the wall and celebrate together. The People’s Choice Award will be announced at that event.
