Apple TV announce release date for new comedy series Brothers starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson

Apple TV+ has unveiled the premiere date for its upcoming comedy series Brothers, a star-driven comedy led by Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey and Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson. The eight-episode series will launch on 23rd September, with its first two episodes dropping on premiere day before continuing weekly through to 4th November.

Created by multi-Emmy Award nominee and Peabody Award winner Lee Eisenberg, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, Brothers sees McConaughey and Harrelson playing heightened fictional versions of themselves in a story that blurs the line between celebrity mythmaking and family drama.

The series begins when a wedding for Woody’s daughter unravels, prompting him to relocate his family to Matthew’s sprawling Austin ranch in search of a reset. What starts as a temporary escape quickly takes an unexpected turn when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (played by Holland Taylor), accidentally reveals a decades-old secret: the pair may actually be brothers.

As Woody becomes increasingly obsessed with uncovering the truth, his presence throws the ranch into chaos. Meanwhile, Matthew finds himself grappling with a crisis of his own as he considers a run for Governor of Texas. The result is a comedy built around friendship, family, fame and identity, exploring how easily the stories people tell about themselves can collide with reality.

Alongside McConaughey, Harrelson and Taylor, the ensemble cast includes Natalie Martinez, Brittany Ishibashi, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan and Oona Yaffe.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios, Brothers will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on 23 September.
