You Me At Six + The Audition + Kids In Glass Houses – Metro Theatre (26.09.10)

British rock band Kids In Glass Houses opened the night up in front of a crowded venue, receiving an overwhelming response. This was the first I had heard of the band and wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I was immediately impressed by their stage presence and energetic performance. The only downside was that the sound wasn’t that great and it was hard to hear lead singer’s Abed Phillips vocals.

No strangers to our shores, American pop rock group The Audition were next. The last time I saw these guys was at the Big Top supporting Story of the Year and their set was mediocre at best. Tonight, however, was a different story. They were incredible. There was never a dull moment in their set as songs like ‘Dance Halls Turn Into Ghost Towns’ and ‘Don’t Be So Hard’ got the entire dance floor moving to the catchy rhythm guitars and infectious drum beats.

You Me At Six have become of my favourite acts in this scene and after tonight’s show it was no surprise why. I think plenty agree with me, too: by now the entire venue was packed to the point it was impossible to move!

They started their set with ‘The Consequence’ which was no doubt the highlight of the night as two very special guests Vigil from The Ghost Inside and Winston from Parkway Drive joined the band on stage to perform guest vocals. As soon as they came up the entire venue burst out into a deafening roar and thus ensued the loudest sing a long this reviewer has heard in a while.

Crowd favourites were ‘Liquid confidence’, ‘Fireworks’ and ‘Underdog’. Also noteworthy were ‘Safer to Hate Her’, ‘Trophy Eyes’ followed by ‘Stay With Me’.

Tonight was no doubt one of the most incredible shows I have witnessed, and god damn; it won’t be long before You Me At Six take over the world!
