VMA Winners Wrap Up: Kanye to run for President, Taylor wins all the moonmen and the 5 Seconds (Song of) Summer

The MTV VMAs have come and gone for another year, and as always they've left people with a lot to talk about. Most notably has been Kanye West's attention grabbing 13 minute speech as he accepted his VMA Vanguard Award, in which he declared he was going to run for President in 2020*, expressed his regret for crashing Taylor Swift's award speech at the 2009 VMAs and... well, read the full speech over at the MTV Website in case you missed it yourself.

Applications open for bands and filmmakers for "Captured: Australia"


The third incarnation of Captured has officially landed, with applications opening today for Captured Australia. With the films set to premiere in November as part of Australian Music Week, bands, filmmakers and musicians from around the country have just until Monday September 14th to apply to be a part of the project.

Kanye West gets aggressive with Travi$ Scott on "Piss on Your Grave"

Travi$ Scott has been putting in the hard yards for awhile now, inching his way towards forthcoming major label debut Rodeo with a barrage of hype-worthy tracks, an acclaimed mixtape, and numerous live shows across the U.S. Perhaps his most noticeable contributions to date remain on Kanye West'sYeezus, Scott's influence a significant part of the controversial album. Following on from that jagged style the two crafted together, Travi$ Scott has re-teamed with Kanye for "Piss on Your Grave", a mean-mugging track off Rodeo ahead of it's release this week.

Over 120 new acts added to the Iceland Airwaves '15 lineup, joining Battles, Father John Misty, John Grant and more.

This week, over 120 new acts were announced for the iconic Iceland Airwaves festival, including Kiasmos, LoneLady, Flo Morrissey, Meat Wave, Sin Fang, Chastity Belt, Bianca Casady and The C.I.A. + Nao. They join the likes of John Grant, Ariel Pink, Beach House, Hot Chip, Perfume Genius, Father John Misty, Battles, East India Youth, Vök and more for the Reykjavik festival, which takes place in November.

Adelaide's Horror My Friend sign with Poison City Records as they tour their new single "Stay In"

One of our favourite Adelaide groups, Horror My Friend, have announced they've signed with Poison City Records, who will release their long awaited debut album Stay In, Do Nothing, in January 2016. This is the Melbourne based label who bring us the likes of The Smith Street Band, Clowns & The Bennies - so the Adelaide group are in some pretty fine company.

Wollongong artist Kay Proudlove releases single "Good Soil" to raise funds for Daffodil Day 2015

After completing a ‘song a day’ writing project last year, Wollongong artist Kay Proudlove was left with an array of tunes with various themes. Some of the songs have morphed into potential album tracks for Kay’s next release, whereas others such as "Good Soil" have been found to have other uses.

The inaugural Australian Music Week - taking place in Cronulla NSW this November - has announced the first round of 30 artists set to showcase at the music summit. The showcase performances will be part of a vast array of events and activities across five days, from panels and interviews to workshops and the premiere of Captured Australia.

Dubbed "There U Go - To K n K - Remix", Bangs goes to town on Kimye while creating his own version of "There You Go" by 2pac and Jazze Phae.

Oisima, Horror My Friend, Timberwolf and more named recipients of the 2015 Stigwood Fellowship.

A number of talented South Australian individuals, both musicians and industry members, have today been announced as recipients of the 2015 Stigwood Fellowship. Run through the SA State Government, Arts SA and the Music Development Office, the second annual fellowships have been awarded to six rising local music acts and three promising and established industry members.

EMC announces first list of speakers, including DJ Carl Cox and Martin Novosel & conference theme!

The 2015 Electronic Music Conference (EMC) has announced its theme for this year - 'Connectivity' - as well as its first round of speakers! The event will be taking place at the Ivy Complex in Sydney this December 1st and 2nd, the leading event of its kind held in the Asia-Pacific. Set to appear as a keynote speaker is DJ Carl Cox, while the legendary Gilles Peterson will be making an Australian exclusive appearance as well.
