
Another week, a whole lot of new releases. Plenty of goods for you this week, including (and not limited to) Rufus Wainwright, Mark Ronson, Meshuggah, The Cult, The Aves and more! Let’s get stuck into it.
BLACKCHORDS
Melbourne band Blackchords have been hard at work writing new material throughout 2011 for a follow up to their self-titled 2009 debut album. The band are said to be halfway through recording at this stage, the first single from is set to drop in February with the yet to be titled album following some time in May. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates and details.

SHINEDOWN
Jacksonville alternative rockers Shinedown have recently joined the Roadrunner Record label and will be releasing their fourth album, Amaryllis, on March 23rd. You can check out the first single from the album, ‘Bully’, here:
AMADOU AND MARIAM
Grammy-nominated artists Amadou and Mariam will release their highly anticipated album Folila on March 30th. The album will feature guest appearances by artists such as Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio and Santigold.

PUTA MADRE BROTHERS
The Puta Madre Brothers are back with their second album, titled It’s A Long Way To Meximotown. The album is to be released on February 10th with launch parties being held at the East Brunswick Club and The Grand Poobah.

LAMB
In collaboration with Celemony Software, LAMB have announced a remix competition where anyone can try their hand at remixing their song ‘Butterfly Effect’. The competition is free to enter, individual instrument tracks from the song can be downloaded from the band’s website and you can also download a free trial of the Melodyne software. The closing date of the competition is February 29th. Check out the LAMB website for more details.
BONOBO
Simon Green, better known as Bonobo, will release a special remix edition of his fourth album, ‘Black Sands’. The album, titled Black Sands Remixed, will be released just ahead of his Australian tour in April. Black Sands Remixed is due in stores February 17th.

DIRTY THREE
Melbourne trio Dirty Three will release their new album Toward The Low Sun on February 24th. Guitarist Mick Turner will be hosting an art exhibition at the same time as the band’s Australian tour. Dates can be viewed on the band’s website. Toward The Low Sun is due in stores February 24th.
MARK LANEGAN BAND
The new album from the Mark Lanegan Band is out today through the Remote Control label. You can check out the first single from the album, ‘The Gravedigger’s Song’, here:
WILLIS EARL BEAL

Chicago blues singer Willis Earl Beal will release his debut album on March 30th. Written while living in Albuquerque, Acousmatic Sorcery will be released via XL Recordings and Remote Control.
HANNAH COHEN
Child Bride is the debut album by Hannah Cohen set to be released April 23rd via Bella Union. The album was produced by Thomas Bartlett who is has also produced the upcoming Julia Stone record (more news of which I’m sure we’ll have in the coming weeks). You can view the video for the first single lifted from the album, ‘The Crying Game’, below.
MESHUGGAH

Swedish metallers Meshuggah will release their eighth album, Koloss, on March 31st. Drummer Tomas Haake has said it is a record ‘best avoided by the faint of heart!’.

OVERKILL

Thrash band Overkill have announced that their new album The Electric Age will be released towards the end of March. More specific release dates are expected in the coming weeks.
EMMURE
After re-signing with Victory Records, Emmure are gearing up to release their fifth album. Titled Slave To The Game, the record is set to drop on April 10th. Check out vocalist Frankie Palmeri speaking about the new album and re-signing with Victory Records here:
FURYON
UK metal band Furyon are set to release their debut album Gravitas on March 27th via Frontiers Records.

PRETTY MAIDS
Danish melodic rockers Pretty Maids will celebrate their thirtieth anniversary with the release of the band’s first live CD/DVD package, It Comes Alive (Maid in Switzerland). The concert was recorded and filmed in October 2011 during the tour for their album Pandemonium. The set is to be released March 27th.

UNLEASHED
New album Odalheim by Swedish death metallers Unleashed is set to be released on April 20th. Recorded in Sweden, the album was produced by the guitarist of Unleashed, Fredrik.
BARREN EARTH
Finnish death metal band Barren Earth will release their sophomore album, The Devil’s Resolve, on March 12th via Peaceville Records. The video for ‘The Rains Begin’ can be viewed on the band’s Facebook page.

OSI

To be released on March 27th is the fourth outing by the duo known as OSI. Fire Make Thunder was recorded throughout 2011 and is the collaboration of Kevin Moore (former Dream Theater keyboardist) and Jim Matheos (Fates Warning).
AURA NOIR
Tagged as ‘the ugliest band in the world’, Aura Noir are back with their newest release Out to Die. The album is set to drop on March 31st.
THE AVES
Adelaide’s The Aves have released their debut EP, titled Panic and it can be streamed on their Myspace page:

RUFUS WAINWRIGHT
For the release of his seventh album, titled Out of the Game, Rufus Wainwright enlisted the help of Mark Ronson to produce. The album is to be released April 20th just ahead of Wainwright’s European tour with Australian dates expected to be announced some time soon.

THE CULT

British rock legends The Cult will release their ninth album on May 25th. Choice of Weapon is the band’s first new album is five years. A new track called ‘Lucifer’ can be downloaded from the band’s official website, www.thecult.us
CAROLINA CHOCOLATE DROPS

North Carolina based band Carolina Chocolate Drops are set to release their third album, Leaving Eden, on February 24th. The album is the follow-up to the band’s Grammy-winning 2010 album, Genuine Negro Jig.
MADONNA

Pop music icon Madonna will release the first single from her upcoming album, MDNA, tomorrow (February 4th). The single is titled ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’’ and features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.
MDNA will be Madonna’s twelfth studio album and is due out March 26th.
WILL & THE PEOPLE

Will & The People have had a busy past couple of years and show no sign of slowing down. The band will finally release their album Morning Sun in Australia on February 17th just before their reach our shores for their Australian tour.
PUNCH BROTHERS

Bluegrass band Punch Brothers will release their third album, Who’s Feeling Young Now, on February 24th via Warner Music. The album was recorded with producer Jacquire King who has worked with acts such as Kings of Leon and Tom Waits.
CANCER BATS

On the 20th April, Juno-nominated act Cancer Bats will release their fourth album, Dead Set On Living.
