Best of 2010 Countdown: Top 40 Tracks – Part 2: 30 – 21

Merry Christmas everyone! We hope you had a lovely day yesterday. At AU HQ, we return with the next 10 tracks that blew us all away this year…

30.

We kick things off with one of our favourite bands from Perth: The Novocaines.

The Novocaines – Adhere To

29.

It comes in criminally low on our countdown, but at number 29 comes the track that introduced us all to the greatness that is Sleigh Bells. Don’t miss them when they’re out here next month! I know I won’t…

Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill

28.

A club favourite, a radio favourite and a favourite at home, Janelle Monae‘s “Tightrope” is definitely one of of the more “Commercial” tracks to grace our countdown. But it definitely deserves its place on all 2010 best of lists – it’s simply a great, catchy song, that managed to embed itself in just about every market imaginable. And we all love a bit of Big Boi.

Janelle Monae feat. Big Boi – Tightrope

27.

This is the first Kanye West track to enter our countdown… it won’t be the last!

Kanye West Feat John Legend – Blame Game

26.

We return to some local flavour with Sydney based duo Fishing. Comprised of Russell Fitzgibbon and Doug Wright, this electronic powerhouse are making some of the sweetest beats heard in this town in years. Their latest single “Oooo” is the culmination of endless touring, mixing, remixing and impressing.

Fishing – Oooo

25.

One could call them Australia’s “buzz” band of 2010 – and they’d probably be right. Thanks much in part to Australia’s love of Mumford and Sons, Boy & Bear rode the success and even the praise of the London-based Hottest 100 toppers. It’s certainly been a great year for both bands – and here’s the single that gave them their deserved national exposure.

Boy and Bear- Rabbit Song

24.

B.o.B. produced not only one of the best hip hop albums of the year, but one of the best albums of the year. In fact, we’re confused as to how it didn’t end up on our own top 40 list! Thankfully B.o.B. has made our tracks of 2010 list with the “Airplanes (Part I)”, featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore.

23.

They’re proving to be the little Melbourne band that could. Ivy League signees Alpine produced one of our favourite EPs of the year in Zurich, and this track “Heartlove” was the brilliant first single off the record.

Alpine – Heartlove

22.

Band of Skulls released an album in 2009 that unfortunately didn’t make waves until this year – so while we weren’t able to award it a spot on our albums of 2010 list, we’re thrilled to see them hit this list with this brilliant single. If you don’t know this band – hurry up and get on board!

Band Of Skulls – Death By Diamonds And Pearls

21.

We return to the local flavour with the incredible Jezabels and their remarkably infectious track “Hurt Me”.

The Jezabels – Hurt Me

Check back in later in the week when we continue the countdown with the top 20 tracks of 2010…
