The Black Sorrows will release new album The Faithful Satellite on September 16th, their 20th release to date. On the back of that they will also head out on tour, playing a massive 50 dates between September and December. As if we needed more reasons to call Joe Camilleri the hardest working man in Australian music.
Naturally, the the band have enlisted a stellar line-up of guest artists that include Vika and Linda Bull, the Davidson Brothers, The Silo String Quartet as well as some of the best young jazz players around to help them out with the album. Recorded at Woodstock Studios in Melbourne, it’s produced by Joe Camilleri and co-producer John McAll. It’s the successor 2014’s Certified Blue. Camilleri and long-time writing partner Nick Smith have once again probed the human psyche deeply and left no musical genre stone unturned.
Whether it’s bopping along to 1979’s Hit And Run with Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons, or daydreaming to 1990’s Harley and Rose with the Sorrows, chances are most Australians have been affected by a Joe Camelleri song at one stage or another. In his own words,he’s ‘in it for the long haul’.
