Album Review: Sui Zhen - Secretly Susan (2015 LP)

In Sui Zhen’s Secretly Susan, slanted electro-pop meets creative zeal, and it’s kind of wonderful. The entire album is drenched in gentle summer breeze, clear blue-sky imagery and at its whimsical best simply floats and flutters from note to note. But there’s so much more than meets the eye with Sui Zhen, the alias of Melbourne-based artist Becky Sui Zhen, including an uncanny ability to find musical and conceptual clarity where many others wouldn’t bother to look.

the AU interview: Chelsea May Wheatley of Chela (Melbourne) talks Sugar Mountain Festival!

Electro pangs and slithers of disco, Chela is a force to be reckoned with. The Fremantle born songstress is keeping busy. Collaborations and tours are just a fraction of her creative outlet. Fresh back from the US, we caught up with Chela to talk Australian talent, the punk to pop progression and her fan girl expectations for 2015’s Sugar Mountain.

New Music Video: Sui Zhen “Infinity Street” (2014)

An arty film clip mixed with a dreamy landscape-esque song took my first interest this week. Sui Zhen - otherwise known as DJ Susan directed produced and starred in this video clip, and I think it’s pretty cool. Check it out below.

Single Stream: Sui Zhen "Infinity Street" (2014)

Sui Zhen, AKA Sydney musician and artist Becky Sui Zhen, is readying her upcoming debut LP Secretly Susan and has shared first single "Infinity Street" before its release in 2015. A typically chilled and genre-defying number it is.

Live Review: Sui Zhen + Rainbow Chan + Carry Nation - The Grace Darling, Melbourne (19.01.12)

Sitting down cross legged at a gig is really weird, especially in a pub. I know there are those experimental gigs in warehouses where sitting crossed legged down is a pre-requisite, but why sit on beer soaked carpet? Regardless, I like hanging out with people who like to chill, and I can try to chill, at least in my own gangly way. So I go to the bar and pour water for myself in a small little cup and sit down with most of the crowd before my leg falls asleep and nearly kills me via pins and needles.
