Courtney Barnett leads ARIA Award nominations for 2015; Artisan and Fine Arts Award winners announced!

The nominations for the 2015 ARIA Awards have taken place in Sydney today, with the winners of the Artisan and Fine Arts categories also being announced. Courtney Barnett won her first ARIA Award during the event, taking away a statue for Best Cover Art, while Kevin Parker won both Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year for Tame Impala's latest album, Currents. For Barnett, today's event revealed her as the artist with the most ARIA nominations for 2015, racking up a massive eight nominations.

Sometimes you've just got to indulge and completely immerse yourself in good pop music. For Melbourne's Rachel Costanzo, she's in the great position where she's able to constantly be channelling some of her favourites when she's writing pop music of her own in studio. The young songstress has been one whose work the AU has been championing this year and we decided to link up and find out what names and tunes she bumps when she's looking for inspiration.

Last Tuesday saw the annual tradition of the APRA Music Awards hit Sydney, a celebration of the Australian music which has made the biggest impact at home and around the globe over the past 12 months. Thanks to a special between Moshcam and APRA, the "Song of the Year" live performances were recorded and streamed, seeing the tracks covered by some of the nation's most talented musicians. Next up, we have one of the more surprising tracks of the night - Jimmy Barnes and Diesel joining forces to perform a cover of the track that won the award, Sia's "Chandelier".

The spotlight was strictly on Australian music at the 2015 APRA Music Awards, which saw some stunning performances from new and old locals as those who have driven Australian music forward, whether in current or past generations, were honoured. Unsurprisingly world-dominating singer-songwriter Sia - who sadly couldn't attend the ceremony in person - walked away with two of the biggest awards, trying at two wins with ubiquitous family band Sheppard.

Between receiving four Grammy nominations and winning multiple ARIA awards, there's no surprise Sia Furler took out yet another award at last night’s 6th Annual Rolling Stone Awards. The songstress beat the likes of Dan Sultan, The Preatures, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and The Church for the prestigious title of 'Album of the Year' for 1000 Forms of Fear.

Album Review: Fifty Shades of Grey (2015 Soundtrack)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last three years you have probably heard of the erotic romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey. There are mixed (generally pretty terrible, to be fair) reviews of the movie but the soundtrack, featuring artists such as Ellie Goulding and Beyoncé Knowles debuted at number two on the Billboard chart, two days before the film’s opening, and is without question one of the best Soundtracks of recent memory.

Chet Faker, Augie March, Hilltop Hoods and more shortlisted for the APRA Music Awards!

The nominees for the 2015 APRA Music Awards were announced today, with the Sydney event set to celebrate some of the country's best at Carriageworks in March. The shortlisted artists for the prestigious Song Of The Year Award will be whittled down to five finalists, the winner of which will be announced at the ceremony on March 24th. Hosted by Brian Nankervis again this year, the event will also be joined by APRA Music Awards Director Robert Conley, who will be curating the live peformances on the night.

New Music Video: Sia "Elastic Heart" (2015)

Sia today unveiled a new version of the music video for "Elastic Heart", featuring the return of "Chandelier" shining star, Maddie Ziegler, and actor Shia LaBeouf. Posting a teaser of the clip intially saw the duo in a cage, with the full version seeing Ziegler and LaBeouf engaging in quite the emotional interpretive dance off.

Nominees announced for 57th Grammy Awards with Sia and Iggy Azalea amongst top contenders

Nominees for the 57th Grammy Awards have been announced, with the ceremony scheduled to take place on February 8th. The list marks two very noticeable achievements by two Australian artists, Sia and Iggy Azalea who have notched up four nods each. Both also will contend for Record of the Year, with "Chandelier" and "Fancy", their respective hits, nominated. The release of the nominees list marks another record for Beyonce as she surpasses Dolly Parton as the most Grammy nominated female of all time, beating Dolly's 46. More J Award nominations have been revealed today! With November being triple j's Ausmusic Month, the annual J Awards sit comfortably in the centre of events which will be rolling out during the month. A whole swag of talented Australian artists have had their musical and visual talents recognised with these latest nominations, for Unearthed Artist of the Year and Australian Music Video of the Year. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony next Tuesday, being broadcast live on triple J from 5pm.
