"I think that's one of the most powerful things, when there's forces that pull us all apart, music is the thing that can pull us all together." It's been a while since we've heard from The Beautiful Girls, but with a new album due to be released and a hectic touring schedule ahead, the AU review had a chat with Mat McHugh about life, love, the boundaries of labels and what to expect from the highly anticipated Dancehall Days.

St. Kilda Festival announces full program for February festival.

The country's largest music festival, the St. Kilda Festival, has revealed its program for edition numero 2014. Over 150 artists will be performing at over 50 venues from February 1 - 9. The festival will be wrapping up with 'Festival Sunday' once again, with Art vs Science, Jebediah and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will all perform.

Mat McHugh announces the 'Summer Come Save Me Tour'.

Acclaimed artist Mat McHugh will be performing an expansive series of shows for his ‘Summer Come Save Me Tour’ throughout January and February 2014. Best known for his role in Sydney band The Beautiful Girls, which lead to glowing reviews and tours, Mat released his debut album Love Come Save Me earlier this year. Combining elements of solo-acoustic with hard hitting electronic & beats driven arrangements, Mat McHugh has evolved his live performances and will be performing new material from his forthcoming 2014 release.

It was over ten years ago that Mat McHugh mustered up some mates to help lock down some demo's in attempt to get a girls attention. Suddenly the northern beaches surfer was riding a wave of momentum, resulting in the birth of the band, The Beautiful Girls. Throughout the last ten years the band has released four studio albums, Learn Yourself (2003), We're Already Gone(2005), Ziggurats (2007) and Spooks (2010) and toured the states, japan, canada, brazil and good old Australia.

Canadian singer songwriter David Myles is currently in the country with Australian duo Camille & Stuie, taking his rhythmic sounds to venues across the board. Myles met the duo on his last tour of Australia and was so enamoured with Camille & Stuie's acoustic power that he promised to enlist them to support him on his next time back!
