Mumford & Sons announce Australian 'Wilder Mind' headline shows & massive Gentlemen of the Road event for Sydney!

Mumford & Sons will be bringing their latest, Wilder Mind, through Australia this November for a run of shows that yes, may only see them in the country for a short time, but by no means will be a measly blip on the radar. The band has announced not only two massive shows to go down in Brisbane and Melbourne, but also a day-long event in Sydney under the popular 'Gentlemen of the Road' banner, that will see the likes of The Vaccines, Future Islands, Jake Bugg and more perform.

Album Review: The Fault In Our Stars: Music from the Motion Picture (2014 LP)

The art of executing a perfect compilation of songs for a film is like making a perfect mixtape for your soulmate. Everything about this soundtrack makes my knees weak and my hopes for this film are soaring so high right now. My gut feeling tells me that it will be as good as the book and it's scary to think that the last time I truly had an appreciation for a film soundtrack was the one made for the well known film (500) Days of Summer.

the AU interview at Bluesfest: Jake Bugg (UK)

Festival Review: Byron Bluesfest (Day Five) - Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (21.04.14)

The final day of the Byron Bluesfest was mainly about revisiting some favourites from the weekend, for me. I suppose you could question whether five days for a festival may be too long, when by the end of it, the line up consists of acts that have already played, but with the amount of new talent on offer in amongst the big names, I suppose this model ensures everyone gets a fair shot of gaining and growing a crowd.

In our final photo gallery from the 2014 Bluesfest in Byron Bay, Johnny Au brings us a glimpse at some of the bands that helped bring an end to the event's 5th day, and their 25th anniversary celebrations. This includes Booker T Jones, Claude Hay, Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Jake Bugg, KC and the Sunshine Band, Michael Franti and Spearhead and Saidah Baba Taliba.

Elvis Costello and the Imposters, the Dave Matthews Band and Gary Clark Jr help draw Bluesfest to a close!

Tonight, the 2014 Byron Bluesfest drew to a close, bringing five days and nights of world class music to an end with the final headline duties falling on the capable shoulders of the Dave Matthews Band, Gary Clark Jr and Elvis Costello and the Imposters on the main stages, while Watussi, Ray Beadle and Playing For Change ensured the party continued on the smaller stages too.

Live Review: Jake Bugg + The Creases + The Growl - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (20.04.14)

Yet another British singer-songwriter whose popularity seems to be growing exponentially, the sold out Enmore Theatre crowd consisted of about 90% British attendees. That would probably explain why this show was sold out, as I don’t think Jake Bugg is as well-known amongst Australian fans that would warrant such a packed room. Regardless those in the crowd were definitely eager to see him perform.

UK rising star Jake Bugg headlined a massive show at the Enmore Theatre last night supported by The Creases and Mikki Gomez was there to bring you these photos:

Live Review: Jake Bugg + The Creases + The Growl - Palace Theatre, Melbourne (16.04.14)

Jake Bugg drew an impressive crowd for his first of two weeknight shows on his second visit to Australia. Frequently labelled as the next Bob Dylan, Bugg has quickly harnessed a cult following for his music that fuses folk with modern rock influences, recently earning him a Brit Award nomination for Best Male Solo Artist.

UK artist Jake Bugg, The Creases, and The Growl put on an excellent concert at Melbourne's Palace Theatre, with all three acts ensuring fans walked away completely satisfied. Perri Cassie was in attendance and brings you these images, snapped for the AU.

Festival Review: West Coast Blues and Roots - Fremantle Park, WA (13.04.14)

Sunday saw the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival return to Fremantle for its 11th year. Though back to its now customary one day format and with a smaller line-up than in recent years, the festival still managed to draw a none-too-shabby 15,000 people through the gates.

The five best moments from West Coast Blues and Roots Festival 2014

The West Coast Blues and Roots Festival has long been one of my favourite festivals to attend. It’s chilled out, relaxed and normally boasts an impressive line-up of legends and up-and-comers. It also happens (for the time being) to be the closest I am going to get to Bluesfest. This year’s festival was my fifth (or maybe my sixth) West Coast Blues and Roots – so here, in no particular order, are five of my highlights from this year’s event.
