FRENZAL RHOMB

Photo Gallery: Big Day Out - Adelaide (03.02.12)

Attendance at the Adelaide Big Day Out was way down this year, but the enthusiasm level of the crowd was high. A scaled down show, minus the eastern states headliner Kayne West and one main stage gave this festival a more intimate feel. Between the main stage and the Guvera skate stage, Legends of Vert performed on the half pipe skate ramp. Perfect weather for an enjoyable day of music.

Live Review: Big Day Out - Flemington Racecourse (29.01.12)

Ah Big Day Out… the festival that has been running like a freight train year after year only to be halted this year by slow ticket sales and a ‘weak lineup’. And despite all my concerns leading into the day Ken West (minus Vivian Lees for the first time ever) pulled it off and put on a more than enjoyable day.

Live Review: Big Day Out - Gold Coast (22.01.12)

BDO

There was a great deal of scrutiny in the lead up to the 20th anniversary of the Big Day Out with regards to the festivals relevance. Poor ticket sales and the announcement of the last ever Auckland leg, sans headliner Kanye West, did nothing to help the ailing publicity.

Ten songs we can't wait to hear at the 2012 Big Day Out.

In spite of lagging ticket sales, the 2012 Big Day Out boasts one of the strongest lineups in years. Sure, you've got a couple of frequent visitors, but from the top to the bottom, artists we've never seen in Australia litter the lineup, alongside the best in local talent. So we've put together 10 tracks we can't wait to hear at Big Day Out - some we'll be hearing for the first time, some old favourites - which was actually terribly difficult to narrow down. This should be one hell of a party.

Rewiggled: A Tribute to The Wiggles (2011 LP)

Many of you will probably have heard of this project by now, and it is certainly a remarkable proposition; Rewiggled: A Tribute to the Wiggles gathers together twenty of Australia’s most popular artists from the last ten years and has each of them tackle a song from the catalogue of the world’s most popular children’s group.

the AU interview: Lindsay McDougall of Frenzal Rhomb (Sydney)

A couple of weeks ago, just after he shaved his head, Larry Heath caught up with the iconic guitarist of Sydney's Frenzal Rhomb, Lindsay McDougall aka The Doctor of Triple J. They chat about the upcoming Frenzal tour, the new album Smoko at the Pet Food Factory, becoming "Silly Corgan" and plenty more. Frenzal Rhomb + The Optionals + Totally Unicorn - Wollongong Uni Bar (30.04.11)

Totally Unicorn don't care for the people who are too cool for the opening acts, hanging up the back of the venue or headed straight towards the bar. They're here to party, and bollocks to anyone who isn't. Literally within seconds of the first chord ringing out, frontman Drew Gardner bowled himself over near the mixing desk. Then, he belly-flops onto a bystander and drapes himself over the security barrier, dangling precariously atop of it while screaming through the steel mesh.
