Album Review: Active Child - Mercy (2015 LP)

It’s been 4 years since Pat Grossi aka Active Child released his critically acclaimed debut album You Are All I See. 2013 saw him release EP Rapor, which exhibited a significantly more upbeat electronic feel and featured the likes of Ellie Goulding and Mikky Echo. His latest album Mercy takes a step back to the more acoustic elements of You Are All I See, and maybe even a step further into a new sound altogether for Grossi.

Album Review: Fifty Shades of Grey (2015 Soundtrack)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last three years you have probably heard of the erotic romance novel Fifty Shades of Grey. There are mixed (generally pretty terrible, to be fair) reviews of the movie but the soundtrack, featuring artists such as Ellie Goulding and Beyoncé Knowles debuted at number two on the Billboard chart, two days before the film’s opening, and is without question one of the best Soundtracks of recent memory.

Live Review: Ellie Goulding + Broods - Festival Hall, Melbourne (31.05.14)

The second stop on Ellie Goulding’s 2014 Australian/NZ tour was at Melbourne's packed out Festival Hall, a significantly larger audience than the Brit songstress is used to, she admitted. However, that didn't cause the pop princess to falter in the slightest, capturing the audience’s attention from beginning to end.

Julian Fernandes had the pleasure of catching Ellie Goulding in Melbourne as part of her current Australian tour. He brings us these photos from the night:

T In The Park continues to grow strong in 2014, with the likes of Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys and more set to perform!

British festival T in the Park has brought a strong lineup for its 2014 run! The three day July festival still has more artist announcements to come, but the list of artists already name-dropped is impressive indeed. With the Tame Impala boys being the first Australians to be included on the festival bill (so far) this year, the festival will also be seeing some stellar international names coming through, including some who will be soon knocking on our doorstep in Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding, Biffy Clyro and Disclosure.

Album Review: Ellie Goulding - Halcyon Days: Special Edition (2013 LP)

One of the main musical genres making the Brits proud is the solo female category. Stemming from the success of Adele, this generation of music lovers were introduced to a modern take on female performers, who wrote about their past relationships and heartbreaks with class and poise - making it a winning formula. Following this pathway but putting her own unique sound towards it emerged Ellie Goulding with her folky and whimsical styled vocals. First gaining success in the UK with her debut album Lights back in 2010, Goulding endured a high level of success in her homeland of England.

Live Review: Ellie Goulding + Contrakids - Metro Theatre (08.03.13)

Ellie Goulding has made a fool of me. Her recent show at The Metro Theatre so exceeded my expectations that I’m actually embarrassed by how much I misjudged her. I had anticipated a rather laid-back night: a tender performance, lighthearted banter with the crowd, maybe some acoustic renditions of her music. What I got was the unlikely combination of a nightclub rave and a rock show, and it was glorious.

Festival Review: Future Music Festival - Bonython Park, Adelaide (11.03.13)

This year’s Future Music Festival proved one thing to me and that is that I can’t tolerate these type of festivals anymore. I didn’t even make it through the gates at Bonython Park without being accosted by some steroid-loving dickheads who had dropped a number of pills because they were so ‘mad keen for Avicii bruv’ – a somewhat perfect omen for the rest of the day and night to follow.
