Lollapalooza takes flight in Berlin this weekend: 10 names we can't wait to see at Tempelhof Airport!

Lollapalooza comes to Berlin this weekend, taking over the Tempelhof Airport on Saturday and Sunday for the first time ever in its extensive history. The event marks the festival franchise's inaugural European event and as we look ahead to the weekend of live music from the likes of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Tame Impala, Muse, Fatboy Slim and more, it's no surprise that the latest addition to the European festival circuit has well and truly sold out. A mixture of heavy hitting international touring artists, as well as a strong line up of DJs and producers has set the tone for an impressive debut in the territory for Lollapalooza and we're going to be on site for all the action!

British festival favourites Muse have been announced as headliners for Lollapalooza Berlin, it's been revealed overnight. The two day festival happening in September is the latest event to be added to the Lolla franchise, taking place at Tempelhof Airport and already features the likes of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Franz Ferdinand, Run the Jewels and Crystal Fighters on its inaugural festival bill.

Berlin Festival adds RUFUS, Digitalism and a heap more added to massive lineup

If it wasn't big enough already - it's taking place over one continuous 48 hour period in Templehof airport - Berlin Festival has just announced a heap of artists to join their current lineup. Australian electronic favourites RUFUS are one of the artists added - bringing a great Australian presence to a bill that now includes monster electro duo Digitalism, British artists Jessie Ware and Bombay Bicycle Club, and California psych rockers Warpaint.

As the sun rises over the bleary eyed campers at Erskine Falls, the music begins from both the Valley Stage and the Grand Theatre. Violent Soho, Pond and The Wombats were some of the standout acts, while Neil Finn had the crowd participating in a good old-fashioned singalong. Vydamo is pictured above. Festival Review: Field Day - The Domain, Sydney (01.01.14)

With a big night before in check, Field Day offered enough dance music to keep the celebrators happy while offering a few more chilled out options for those still recovering from New Year’s Eve. Its size, slightly smaller than a regular festival, meant that it was easier to get around and criss-cross genres throughout the day.

Festival Review: The Falls Music and Arts Festival, Day Three - Marion Bay, Tasmania (31.12.13)

New Years Eve is a time for celebration and, unless you’re headed to some exotic overseas location, there are few better ways to celebrate than with your closest friends, 12 000 neighbours and some of the biggest artists the world over. True, The Wombats may have missed the official countdown in Marion Bay, but then there’s nothing like a bit of confusion and chaos to kick off the new year with a bang.

Part one of our Field Day festival coverage at The Domain in Sydney includes artists such as A$AP Rocky (pictured above), Alison Wonderland, Cosmo's Midnight, Crystal Fighters, Flight Facilities, Hermitude, Panama, Ta-Ku, Wave Racer and What So Not. Photos by Johnny Au.

the AU interview: Gil Vierich of Crystal Fighters (London) chats 'Cave Rave' in 2013, Field Day and returning to Australia!

Crystal Fighters are currently in the country for a run of summer festival dates, as well as some club shows and before it all kicked off, I caught up with them as they were on the road through Europe. I last chatted with the band when their latest album Cave Rave was about to drop and since then, they've gone on to build on it's acclaim with huge shows through the US and UK. With Australia's turn now arrived, Gil Vierich is keen to bring the party.

Now they return with songs from their latest release Cave Rave, featuring top tracks “You and I” and “Wave”.

The lineup for Sydney's Field Day has been announced! Held at The Domain on New Year's Day, the artists who will be stopping by come from all across the music community, both Australian and international. Being one of the few major music events to be held in the Domain, following the departure of Harvest and Homebake from the venue, Field Day is definitely stepping up in giving the punter a festival experience to remember.

First artist announcement for the 2013 Falls Music and Arts Festival revealed; The Roots, Solange amongst those to play for the first time!

As we head ever nearer to the end of the year, the good folk who run the annual Falls Festival in Lorne, Marion Bay and now Byron Bay, have announced who will be flying to Australia to spend the New Year period with us. The festival, headlined last year by Irish trio Two Door Cinema Club and featured the likes of DZ Deathrays, The Hives and The Flaming Lips, has brought some impressive talent with its first artist announcement.

the AU interview: Sebastian Pringle of Crystal Fighters (London/Navarre)

An act not bound by musical convention, Crystal Fighters have continued to explore their sonic influences and musical eclecticisms on their forthcoming album Cave Rave. I chat with lead vocalist Sebastian Pringle about the new LP, how touring has changed him as a songwriter and of course, when we can expect another visit from the band.
