This Week’s DVD Release Picks: Prisons Galore (15th October 2015)

This week’s DVD releases feature different types of prisons – penetentiaries, zoos, and an office.

UTOPIA SEASON 2
This Australian show is one of the funniest workplace comedies on the box. Created by the Working Dog team (Santo Cilauro, Rob Sitch, and Tom Gleisner), Utopia stars Sitch, Celia Paquola, Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann and Kitty Flanagan as the employees of the fictional Nation Building Authority. Bitingly accurate about the monotony of office bureaucracy, Utopia is one of the ABC’s best; let’s hope it gets renewed for a third season.

WENTWORTH SEASON 3
This remake of Prisoner is another Australian hit series. Broadcast on Foxtel channel SoHo, Wentworth follows prison newbie Bea (Danielle Cormack), as she struggles to come to terms with her seven year sentence. She also finds herself the target of prison top-dog Franky (Nicole da Silva). Australia’s answer to Orange is the New Black, Wentworth is gripping and excellent Australian drama.

JURASSIC WORLD
The next in the Jurassic Park series, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as employees of the revamped dinosaur park. After the lab creates the Indominus Rex, a genetically engineered and mutated dinosaur that escapes and wreaks havoc on the park. It’s an entertaining homage to the Jurassic Park series, and worth a watch if you were fans of the original films.
