The top ten finalists have been revealed for the 2016 Get Reel Short Film Festival

The Official Top Ten Night’s short film festival – Get Reel – has revealed the ten finalists for its 2016 event.

Supporting Suicide Prevention Australia, Get Reel attracted more than 1,650 entries this year, with entrants asked to respond to the theme “Being Seen” through a short film (ten minutes or less) shot on a smart device. The competition, which aims to start a conversation around mental health, will screen its ten thought provoking finalists from 6pm to 8.30pm on Sunday 24 July at The Ritz Cinema in Randwick. Tickets are $25 and are on sale now.

Judging the competition were:

  • Andrew Morley – Star of Neighbours and former star of Home & Away
  • Danielle Cormack – Star of TV’s Wentworth, Rake & Xena: Warrior Princess
  • Dov Kornits – Editor of FilmInk Magazine
  • Erin James – Actress from The Little Death
  • Greg van Borssum – Assistant Director on Happy Feet, Happy Feet 2 & Weapons Advisor on Mad Max: Fury Road
  • Jessica Grace Smith – Star of TV’s Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Home & Away & Director of short film Everybody Else Is Taken
  • Paul Sullivan – 2nd/3rd Assistant Director on The Matrix Trilogy, Moulin Rouge & Star Wars Episodes II& III
  • Peter Reynolds – Visual Effects on X-Men Origins: Wolverine, & Mad Max: Fury Road
  • Shae-Lee Shackleford – Producer and Director and one third of SketchShe
  • Ursula Dabrowsky – Director of Family Demons & Inner Demon
  • Socratis Otto – Actor from I, Frankenstein, Gone and TV’s Wentworth.
  • Ursula Dabrowsky – Director of Family Demons & Inner Demon.

  • CYBER by Georgia Cramp
  • Drowning Memories by Oliver Marsden
  • Gebrochen by Alice Royster
  • Happy Thoughts by Michael Hall
  • Obsessed by Katie Hilditch
  • Red Age by Roderick Gadaev
  • Silence by Centennial Park School
  • When We Were Young – A Dance Film by Robbie Wright

Winners will be announced at the red carpet screening and will share in $4500 worth of prizes.
