The cast and first trailer for Isle of Dogs is peak Wes Anderson

Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom) returns to the silver screen this April with Isle of Dogs, a stop-motion adventure – his first return to the style since the acclaimed Fantastic Mr. Fox. And this weekend the first trailer for the star-studded project dropped.

Isle of Dogs tells the story of Atari Kobayashi, a 12 year old heir to the corrupt Mayor Kobayashi. When the Mayor decides by Executive Decree that all pets of Megasaki City are to be exiled to Trash Island, a literal garbage dump, Atari sets off on a journey in his miniature Junior-Turbo Prop in search of his bodyguard dog, Spots. Along the way, Atari meets various canine characters that will lead him on an epic adventure that will decide the fate and future of dog-kind.

Isle of Dogs presents an all-star cast of Wes Anderson alumni, as well as some new additions to the family, including Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcolm in the Middle), Edward Norton  (American History X, Fight Club), Bill Murray, (Ghostbusters, Caddyshack) and Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day) to name a few. The full cast list is in the brand new poster below, and you can watch the beautiful trailer here. It won’t take long for you to see that Isle of Dogs is looking like some peak Wes Anderson adventure.

Isle of Dogs opens in Australian theatres on 19th April 2018.
