Taika Waititi & Julian Dennison to visit the Chauvel Cinema for special Hunt for the Wilderpeople screening and Q&A

Taika Waititi recently broke the New Zealand box office record for the highest-grossing film of all time with his new movie Hunt for the Wilderpeople which he wrote, directed and starred in. The previous box office record was set by another movie by him called Boy and you might recognise his other hits such as Eagle vs. Shark and What We Do in the Shadows.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople will be opening nationally in Australia on Thursday, 26th May but Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, Sydney, has announced they’ll be hosting a special preview screening of the film, following by a special Q&A session on Monday, 23 May at 6.30pm. The film’s writer, director and star, Taika Waititi will be present to introduce the film and then answer your questions in at this special event, alongside young actor Julian Dennison, who plays Ricky in the film.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is based on Barry Crump’s bestselling novel of the same name, where Ricky (Julian Dennison) – a defiant young city kid – finds himself on the run with his cantankerous foster uncle (Sam Neill) in the wild New Zealand bush. A national manhunt ensues, and the two are forced to put aside their differences and work together to survive. You can watch the trailer here:

The Chauvel Cinema is located at 249 Oxford St, Paddington (Cnr Oxford St & Oatley Rd). The Screening and Q&A runs from 6.30pm to 8.45pm. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Chauvel Cinema box office or by clicking HERE.
