Straight from Orange Is The New Black, Ruby Rose is joining Jason Statham for Meg

Some Orange Is The New Black fans may be stoked for this as Australia’s own Ruby Rose is currently in negotiations to star in upcoming horror, sci-fi film MegRose will be joining fellow actors Jason Statham (The Transporter, Crank) and Fan Bingbing (X-Men: Days of Future Past) with Jon Turteltaub to direct the film.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Belle Avery, and Colin Wilson will also be producing while taking the reigns of executive production will be Wei Wayne Jiang, Barrie M. Osborne, Randy Greenberg, and Gerald R. Molen.

Based on Steve Alten’s 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, Meg‘s story is centered around an international observation program. The program is lead by Chinese students and they try to uncover the unknown danger that has come up after an attack. The deep-sea submersible is disabled and becomes trapped at the bottom of the Mariana Trench and the outcome is, they need to be rescued.

Statham’s role will be a former naval officer and expert deep-sea diver who’s recruited for a suicide mission, while Rose will be playing an engineering genius, part of the marine team.

Currently Meg has a set U.S. release date on March 2, 2018.
