Fans of Sherlock have been waiting a while for the fourth series – though were given brief joy with the show’s “Christmas Special” that premiered at the start of the year in Sherlock: The Abominable Bride. Well, 2017 will be when we finally get that fourth series, and earlier this morning at San Diego Comic-Con, the first teaser for the series premiered and it’s looking dark… while we’re promised that “something’s coming”.
Watch the teaser here:
It’s also been revealed that the fourth series of Sherlock will premiere exclusively on the Australian streaming network Stan. The deal between Stan and BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) sees the SVOD service get exclusive rights for the entire lifetime of the series yet to screen (though nothing beyond Season Four has been officially confirmed at this stage).
Season Four of Sherlock will again feature three feature length episodes, all of which will premiere on Stan at the same time as the rest of the world gets to see the series. The move follows a similar deal that was made at the time of the release of The Abominable Bride at the start of the year, which also had a successful one night only cinema run.
Seasons 1-3 and Sherlock: The Abominable Bride are available to stream now on Stan. Season 4 will hit screens next year.
