Scrubs‘ Zach Braff is planning a TV comeback based on Alex Blumberg’s podcast StartUp

According to Deadline Hollywood, Zach Braff will both direct and star in a new comedy series called Start Up. Based on the podcast of the same name by Alex Blumberg, the show will see Braff reuinte with Scrubs producer Matt Tarses, the writer for this series.

The show will document the hilarity that ensues when a family man in his mid 30s decides to quit his job and start a new business. US network ABC, who was home for the final season of Scrubs, has gifted the show a put pilot commitment, making it a near certainty to air.

Blumberg is a former producer for This American Life and the CEO of Gimlet Media. The podcast follows the launching of Gimlet, which is a potentially hilarious twist of irony is a company that produces narrative podcasts. We expect the paradox of ‘art imitating life’ vs ‘life imitating art’ to be at the heart of the first season of the TV show.
