PAX West 2016: Friday the 13th: The Game Trailer shows off a montage of 13 brutal kills

The newest trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game released at PAX West 2016, gives horror fans exactly what developers promised, blood and gore, and lots of it.

Certainly not for the faint of heart, the trailer depicts gameplay of 13 brutal Voorhees murders. While the montage is undoubtedly disturbing with pickaxes to the throat, gouged eyeballs, and victims held down over an open flame, it is merely a teaser of the savagery to come with the promise of inclusion of both new and familiar kills from the film franchise by the same name when the game launches in October 2016.

In its revival of the old school slasher franchise, Gun Media and Illfonic, have given 80’s horror fans a chance to control the hockey-mask clad psychopath, Jason Voorhees, in this asymmetrical multiplayer game.

Set in a semi-open world mirroring Camp Crystal Lake from the film franchise, seven camp councilors will fight to survive the night, while being hunted down and killed off one-by-one by a fellow player controlling Jason. The game aims to have you reminisce over the film franchise, while bringing back the visual aesthetic of the 80’s and its slasher tropes, with generic teen characters such as the preppy guy, and the girl next door. The game ends when each player is graphically slaughtered, in which case a Friday the 13th style trailer will depict game highlights, or when players work as a team to bring Jason’s rampage to an end.

Kane Hodder who played Jason four times in the film franchise will be bringing the character back to life in game form by coordinating stunts through motion capture.

The game is expected to launch in October 2016 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
