Optus launches short video competition with grand prize of US$30,000

Optus launches short video competition, Connect5, which the telco says aims to support local content innovation. The competition encourages up-and-coming content creators to shoot, upload, and submit a 5-minute film that focuses on the theme of ‘Connecting Lives’.

Two Australian winners will win A$5,000 and will be entered in the regional finals, held in Bangkok. There they will go head-to-head with winners from Africa, India, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia.  The winner of the regional finals will receive a prize of US$30,000, with the runner-up receiving US$15,000,  and have their short film viewed by millions of people throughout the region. Optus says the videos will be judged on the originality of content, storytelling and cinematography skills.

Submissions can be uploaded online to the events website until the 30th of September.
