Netflix takes a huge leap with Brad Pitt comedy War Machine

netflix (640x360)

Netflix has acquired the rights to distribute War Machine, the satirical comedy about the war in Afghanistan from Animal Kingdom Director David Michôd. With the superstar lead taken by none other than Brad Pitt, this proves a very big acquisition for the streaming service and could change the way Hollywood approaches them and similar streaming services in the future.

War Machine will be adapted from controversial best-seller The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan from the late Michael Hastings. The plot involves Pitt as a four star “rock star” general who is promoted to command the American war in Afghanistan with a radical new approach.

There’s no word on when War Machine will be complete but work on the project is scheduled to begin this August.
