Netflix announces a round of television shows for Australian and New Zealand members

With Netflix’s debut in Australia and New Zealand in March 2015 coming up, it’s only right that they announce more than a few television shows which will be available for us all to consume at our leisure. The increasingly popular streaming service has set premiere dates for new original series as well as a bunch of kids and family series.

Historical drama Marco Polo will have it’s first season debut for us in March, but even before that happens, Netflix has confirmed that a second season has been green lighted for 10 episodes. The show was created by John Fusco and follows it tale of famed explorer Marco Polo as he follows the world of green, betrayal, sexual intrigue, and rivalry in Kublai Khan’s court in 13th Century China. The series stars Lorenzo Richelmy as Marco and features Benedict Wong, Joan Chen, Zhu Zhu, Chin Han, Olivia Cheng, Tom Wu, Remy Hii, Uli Latukefu, Mahesh Jadu, Claudia Kim and Rick Yune.

In addition to this, exact dates have been confirmed for the following television shows to premiere on Netflix.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Friday March 6th, 2015)

Creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock have given the world this half-hour single-camera comedy series starring Ellie Kemper as Kimmy, a young woman who escapes a doomsday cult and decides to reclaim her life and start over in NYC. The 13-episode series, produced by Universal Television, also stars Jane Krakowski (who you’d definitely know from her role in 30 Rock), Titus Burgess, Carol Kane, and more.

Bloodline (Friday March 20th, 2015)

Producers Sony Pictures Television and executive producers Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler have lined up a stellar cast for a series about the Rayburn family and the eldest brother and black sheep who threatens to tear them apart by exposing underlying emotional demons. The family drama stars Kyle Chandler (a man known to excel in family dramas from his lead role in Friday Night Lights), Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, Jacinda Barrett, Jamie McShane, Enrique Murciano, Sissy Spacek, and Sam Shepard.

Marvel’s Daredevil (Friday April 10th, 2015)

Charlie Cox plays a young boy blinded in his youth and imbued with extraordinary senses, going on to live a double-life as a lawyer-slash-superhero who fights against injustice both inside and outside of the law. The well-known Marvel tale has been adapted to television by Marvel Television and ABC Studios with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight, Jeph Loeb, and Drew Goddard. The series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson.

Grace and Frankie (Friday May 8th, 2015)

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin play the leads in an irreverent and touching series about a pair of frenemies whose lives are permanently connected when their husbands leave them for each other. Starting over in their 70s in a 21st century world is the challenge here. The series also stars Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Daphael, and Baron Vaughn. The series is created by Marta Kauffman who worked on Friends and Howard J Morris from Home Improvement.

In addition to the above, Netflix will continue to expand upon options for all ages, working to bring in high quality, global animation, and live-action series. New titles launching on Netflix around the globe include DreamWorks Animation’s The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Ever After High: Spring Unsprung, and the second season of Mako Mermaids.

Netflix will reportedly debut in Australia and New Zealand in March 2015.
