It’s hard to believe that after a decade of false starts, postponements and trilogy-stretching, Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy is coming to a close in three months time. The first two films in the trilogy were met with general enthusiasm but have not reached the same levels of popularity as Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. Regardless, The Hobbit looks set to conclude in suitably epic fashion with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The climax of the film – a gigantic battle between five different armies – has the potential to be the most awe-inspiring event of the entire Middle Earth saga. If Jackson gets this right, and all signs are suggesting that he will, audiences will likely overlook some of the weaker parts of the trilogy and enjoy it for what it is; a chance to see one of the greatest directors of our time doing what he does best!
Warner Bros. has released an incredible piece of artwork to promote the film – a huge tapestry that teases some of the major events in the upcoming film. Each section of the tapestry looks absolutely incredible, but special mention has to go to the image of Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) reaching for each other during the assault on Dol Guldur, while Elrond (Hugo Weaving) and Saruman (Christopher Lee) look on. Sure, the Battle of the Five Armies will be the highlight of the film, but it’s going to be pretty damn awesome to see these four incredibly powerful characters (and actors) join forces to attack Sauron.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.
