It has been 15 years since Queer Eye For The Straight Guy graced our TV screens. Fast forward to 2018 and the show has been rebooted and will be exclusively streamed on Netflix. A new cast of handy men will doll out advice, sass and free make-overs for those that need it most.
We run through the five things we learned from watching the first two episodes.
1. There are lots of straight people still in dire need of the fab five’s services. In 2018 we have: Antoni Porowski (Food & Wine), Bobby Berk (Interior Design), Jonathan Van Ness (Grooming), Karamo Brown (Culture) and Tan France (Fashion).
2. Sadly, the latest Queer Eye is limited once again to advice offered by five gay men. It would have been nice to have things changed up a bit and see a queer girl or trans person rounding out the cast, but alas this has not happened this time around.
3. Contestant number one is convinced that you “Can’t fix ugly!” No surprises or spoilers but of course he is proven wrong. A haircut and beard trim can make a huge difference and this all a big cause for celebration as well as the burning of some well-worn jorts.
4. Contestant number two and France bond over their cultural backgrounds. The latter jokes that every Pakistani and Indian boy has a cricket ball hidden away in his cupboard. What France wasn’t expecting to find in this contestant’s wardrobe however, was a kind of glory box containing some goodies ear-marked for the contestant’s future wife.
5. Van Ness has such long, glorious locks. You. Will. Want. To. Play. With. Them. Enough said.
All eight episodes of Queer Eye will stream exclusively on Netflix in February 7, 2018.
