Exclusive SXSW Interview: Jeremy Sisto talks shocking audiences and more with new film Hangman

Hangman

Following its midnight screening at the Stateside Theatre, the AU sat down with actor and producer Jeremy Sisto to talk about Hangman, Sisto’s new film that sees him working as both lead actor and producer. Directed by Adam Mason, the horror flick sees a normal family return from vacation to find their house has been broken into. As they return to normal life however, the scary ride is only just getting started, unbeknownst to them.

Chatting with Sisto, who was at the screening the night before, he notes the process of working with Mason, “He and his writing partner are two of the most proactive people and I’m very attracted to that right now in my life, as far as people to work with and getting stuff done. I tend to labour about somethings too long, so I made an active choice to be around people who were just like, ‘Let’s get it going and do it’!”

In terms of making Hangman into a franchise, like many popular horror films have done before it, Sisto says it’s always been in the works to flesh out the antagonist of the film (played by Eric Michael Cole). “They [Adam and Eric] did a whole bunch of different stuff with him alone in his room, some emotional stuff. It turned out to be the real heartbeat of the movie and so there are a lot of different sides…there are enough clues as to what’s going on with him that I think can really fuel a lot of movies.”
