Enter the Dragon: John Logan back for Penny Dreadful “Ebb Tide”

“You are made for the day, not the night.” –Kaetenay

This week on Penny Dreadful, series creator John Logan returns as writer, and despite the past two action-packed episodes, they were missing the eloquence and emotion we have come to expect from Logan’s scripts. But that is well atoned for in “Ebb Tide” and the cast comes together for some truly memorable performances.

Evil continues to sniff around Vanessa (Eva Green) who has an enlightening conversation with Catriona (Perdita Weeks). Meanwhile, Lily’s (Billie Piper) influence grows forcing Dorian (Reeve Carney) to assess the situation in the mansion.

Frankenstein’s firstborn (Rory Kinnear) gets some long-overdue screen time and Wes Studi gives another powerful performance as Kaetenay. With only three episodes left, the battle between the light and the dark has begun, and you can watch a teaser of the upcoming episode here.

“Ebb Tide” is written by John Logan and directed by Paco Cabezas. It airs on the Showtime channel on Foxtel Wednesdays at 8.30pm.
