Donald Glover’s acclaimed series Atlanta (finally) comes to Australia

One of the best television shows of 2016 is coming to Australia with award winning comedy drama Atlanta to air on SBS Viceland (formerly SBS 2) from the end of this month. Created by Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) who also stars in the acclaimed series, Atlanta will premiere on Tuesday, February 28 with two episodes from 9.20pm.

Set in Atlanta’s rap scene and centred around the lives of cousins Earn, portrayed by Glover, and Alfred (rapper name Paper Boi) played by Brian Tyree Henry, it has won the hearts of critics and audiences alike as well as two Golden Globe Awards (including best series, comedy or musical, and best actor Donald Glover).

The multi talented Glover, who aside from his acting and writing creds is a Grammy nominated musician, will soon be seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and will play Lando Calrissian in the yet to be named Han Solo Star Wars film. Atlanta was renewed for a second season to air in the US in 2018.

As a bonus, the entire first season of Atlanta will be available to stream on SBS on Demand after the first episode has gone to air on February 28.
