Disney to go ahead with Lion King TV revival Lion Guard

Lion Guard: Return of the Roar  may not be a title which inspires much confidence in Disney’s Lion King television revival project, but at least we’ll be getting some of the original voice-cast reprising their roles. Firstly, James Earl Jones will be returning to as Mufasa, alongside Ernie Sabella who will once again voice that loveable hog Pumbaa. Simba will be voiced by Rob Lowe, while his the lion’s wife, Nala, will be brought to life by Gabrielle Union. An impressive cast line-up like that has got to count for something, right?

The primetime television event will be focused on Simba’s second born son, Kion (Max Charles) and his friends and is expected to screen sometime this November. This will be followed closely by a TV series also titled Lion Guard, planned for air on Disney channels around the world early next year.

With some artists working on the series who also worked on the groundbreaking 1994 classic, things are beginning to shape up quite nicely for the revival, further evidenced by the beautiful animation in the below preview clip:
