David Fincher is back with Gone Girl trailer and new poster.

David Fincher is one of those directors that can drum up a large amount of excitement for any film that has his name attached to it. Since hitting it big with Se7en (1995) and Fight Club (1999), Fincher has consistently thrilled and amazed audiences with each film he has made. With the awards attention given to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and The Social Network (2010), Fincher has entered the upper echelon of the best contemporary directors.

For his first film since 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fincher has directed an adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s 2012 best-selling novel Gone Girl. The novel fits Fincher’s sensibilities perfectly, detailing the deteriorating marriage of Nick and Amy Dunne (Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike) and the mystery surrounding Amy’s disappearance on their fifth wedding anniversary. The first trailer for the film has hit the web this week, and it is what we have come to expect from a Fincher teaser trailer; slick, moody footage set to a cover of a well-known song. The juxtaposition of the cheery tune (a cover of ‘She’) with the dark images onscreen is incredibly effective. As the teasers for The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo also did for their films, this trailer has positioned Gone Girl as an unmissable film event from one of the industry’s best directors.

Gone Girl does not currently have a scheduled Australian release date. The film opens in the US and UK on October 3rd so we can expect the film in the latter part of the year. The new poster is also below!
