Ben & Jerry’s Openair Cinemas are returning this month to kick off its country-wide tour in Brisbane, with a season of incredible films screening from September 28 until November 9. The Openair Cinemas also bring with them a range of live music acts, with each Sunday hosting Ben & Jerry’s Sundae Sessions. Each Sundae Session will include live music from an array of Brisbane’s best up-and-coming artists.
The Brisbane season will kick of on Sunday September 28 with the Sundae Sessions Charity Launch. The event will include a performance by Melbourne band Husky, games on the lawn, free bean lounger or deck chair hire, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and a screening of New Zealand’s hilarious vampire mockumentary What We Do In the Shadows. All ticket sales proceeds will be donated to the very worthy cause of WWF Australia’s efforts to protect the Great Barrier Reef from industrialisation. Tickets to the Charity Launch can be purchased here, but get in quick because they will sell out!
The rest of the season will include screenings of recent hits such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Lucy, The Inbetweeners 2, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Begin Again, The Hundred-Foot Journey and Magic in the Moonlight. Also screening will be classics such as Grease, Dirty Dancing, The NeverEnding Story and Mrs. Doubtfire. Up to two films will be screened each night Tuesday through Sunday and will be projected using a 2K HD digital cinema system onto a massive 12m by 6m screen.
Audiences will be able to hire deckchairs, bean loungers and blankets as part of their ticket packages. Guests who purchase Star Class tickets will get reserved bean lounger seating, a blanket, a drink and a Ben & Jerry’s shortie. Drinks will be available at a fully-licensed bar and Vespa Pizza will be providing delicious wood-fired pizzas.
