AMC’s The Walking Dead plan special ‘Zombies on a Plane’ stand-alone story

Already details are starting to emerge for the second season of Fear the Walking Dead, and AMC have just dropped a huge announcement to Entertainment Weekly about their lead-up plans. The network and the world of The Walking Dead will produce a 30-minute special episode (likely split into chapters) which tracks a walker outbreak on an airline, to debut as a stand-alone story. Little is known about the narrative of the story, but there will be at least one survivor, a new character who will then be introduced into season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead.

This tells us something at least; that the airline is most likely going to be headed to LAX. Beyond that, we are yet to find out just how many episodes will be produced telling this story and who will be cast (Samuel L Jackson please) in this ultra-claustrophobic walker attack.

The airline attack will debut as an online series and will air during Walking Dead’s on-air telecasts. Meaning that we will be seeing this around October when Season 6 of The Walking Dead begins. Hopefully it’s more like that scene in World War Z and less like the terrible Flight of the Living Dead.

The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres on October 11th in the U.S. It will likely be fast-tracked in Australia.
