Whiteheart is Melbourne’s new two-storey container bar

Combining art, music, food and alcohol, Whitehart is the newest addition to Melbourne’s CBD streets. Named after the lane it resides on, Whitehart is a two-storey open container bar built on a converted car park.

Having opened early March, husband-and-wife team Stephen Johnson and Sabrina Santucci are the creators behind this uniquely designed venue. Large recycled steel frames hold up the containers over two levels giving Whitehart that popular industrial look.

As part of a collaboration with local artist studio Daisylegs, unique wall projections and multi-story art installations were created to produce a visual feast for patrons, highlighting the urban atmosphere of the venue.

“The space is large yet intimate, industrial but green, outdoors yet undercover, you’re in the CBD yet hidden away and the artwork is world class. It’s a totally unique experience,” says Stephen.

A wide selection of drinks are on offer, with more than 10 craft beers are on tap and several more options offered in bottles and cans. A selection of local and international wines are also available, as well as variety of specialty cocktails for those wanting something a little more sweet.

Whitehart will have rotating food options to offer, with vendors alternating week-by-week such as Iron Bark, with their variety of pit smoked meats including pulled pork shoulder, beef cheek, or a selection of wings to pair with Whitehart’s craft beer options.
