Trip.com and China Southern Airlines bring “Journey to China” pop-up to Sydney CBD

In partnership with China Southern Airlines, Trip.com is set to transform Sydney’s Pitt Street Mall into an immersive travel experience with its upcoming “Journey to China” pop-up, running from 27 to 29 March (10:00AM–7:00PM daily).

Designed as a city-centre activation, the three-day pop-up invites Sydneysiders to explore China’s most iconic destinations through a series of interactive, gamified experiences, while unlocking exclusive travel deals and prizes.

Visitors begin their journey by collecting a “Boarding Pass” at the entry point, which guides them through multiple themed zones inspired by major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing. Each zone is designed to blend travel inspiration with cultural discovery, offering a hands-on way to engage with China’s heritage and destinations.

The experience includes a range of interactive activities, from mapping out personalised travel routes in the China City Zone to participating in creative workshops such as a Blue and White Porcelain challenge and a Lion Craft challenge, inspired by traditional Chinese culture. A dedicated city-themed photo wall also provides visitors with a visual backdrop for social sharing.

As part of the experience, participants collect stamps at each activity station while unlocking rewards along the way. Those who collect three stamps can spin an on-site Lucky Wheel to win exclusive merchandise, while visitors who complete all four stations will gain entry into the daily Grand Draw, with the chance to win a return flight from Sydney to China (taxes and surcharges apply). Winners will be announced each day at 5:00PM throughout the activation period.

Running alongside the pop-up, Trip.com is offering a series of limited-time travel deals from 20 March to 2 April, including promotional offers such as A$50 off A$150 spend and A$100 off A$300 spend during the event period (terms and conditions apply).

The campaign highlights the growing accessibility of travel between Australia and China, with China Southern Airlines providing direct routes and Trip.com offering a seamless booking platform for flights, accommodation and travel experiences.

Positioned as a free, interactive experience in the heart of Sydney, the “Journey to China” pop-up combines cultural engagement, travel inspiration and tangible rewards, encouraging visitors to turn curiosity into their next overseas trip.
