The Novotel Canberra opens First Edition Bar & Dining

The Novotel Canberra has opened a new dining venue, First Edition Bar & Dining, on its first-floor mezzanine. The newly refurbished 180-seater restaurant is under the direction of Brandworks Australia in combination with Accor Hotels, drawing on inspired old-world reading rooms with bespoke woodwork to create a space of sophisticated charm.

The newly opened restaurant and bar pays tribute to local distilleries and tap houses by serving up a curated menu of spirits and craft cocktails and has collaborated with the Canberra Disttillery to create First Edition’s own handcrafted gin. The wine list exclusively features Australian wines which are all available by the glass and bottle, with special focus on varietals from the local Canberra Regions Lerida Estate and Mt Majura wineries.

Executive Chef, Jennie Tressler has created a seasonal all-day menu to show case fresh produce from Canberra and the surrounding areas. Chef Jennie’s food is said to evoke feelings of nostalgia making honest food from her childhood. Guests can expect a collection of share style dishes as Balzanelli’s Cured Meats and Fedra Olive Grove home style olives and oils, or such as Burratina, Winter Fruits, Crushed Rye, Fedra’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($16) and mains including the Peppercorn Beef Pot Pie with a choice of sides ($26).

Those can choose to finish their meals with a choice of sweet or savoury from the Taste of Tilba Cheese Selection with local bush honey and accompaniments ($22) to the decadent American Sugar Pie with double whipped cream & gold coated whole fresh strawberries ($16).
