RivaReno opens a gelato parlour in Barangaroo (Sydney)

RivaReno Gelato, the award-winning Italian gelateria first based in Darlinghurst, has opened a new store in Sydney’s rapidly expanding Barangaroo precinct. With a commitment to serving authentic Italian gelato and imports its single origin Valrhona chocolate, caramelized pecans, mascarpone, pistachios, hazelnuts and almonds from Italy directly, the brand seeks to expand on their popularity down at The Street of Barangaroo, which has come with their modest water-side gelato cart.

The company was first established in Italy by four friends, who shared a passion for quality Italian gelato. In 2013, they partnered with Kieran Tosolini in Sydney, and opened their first store in Darlinghurst. To coincide with the new opening at the Barangaroo location, RivaReno will also be unveiling the new look of the freshly-renovated Darlinghurst store, now constructed of dark oak and imported Italian Carrara marble. Both stores are fitted with large steel containers called “pozzetti”, which are set deep inside the counter so as to maintain the gelato at an ideal temperature. The stores are also designed to enable the team to continually make gelato throughout the day, in several small batches. This ensures that the gelato at RivaReno, which contains no preservatives, anti-oxidants or hydrogenated fat, is kept fresh and soft.

Tosolini is “thrilled to be expanding RivaReno Gelato to Sydney’s most exciting food hub, Barangaroo. The Australian market is so discerning when it comes to gelato, and we look forward to delighting even more customers with our authentic Italian flavours”.

Indeed, RivaReno Gelato will be in good company, joining the host of restaurants and bars that have opened recently in this burgeoning dining precinct of Sydney. from the team at Bar H, who are opening Mediterranean-influenced bar called Banksii in Barangaroo later this year, to the owners of the Turkish restaurant Efendy, whose new restaurant Anason  has already received critical praise [it’s also in our top picks for Mother’s Day in Sydney.

RivaReno Gelato offers 26 varieties of gelato and four granitas, including a range of seasonal fruit sorbets, and the Cremino RivaReno, which is made of a white chocolate and hazelnut ganache with layers of gianduia. RivaReno is also planning on expanding its menu to include crepes, waffles, Italian doughnuts or “bombolini”, and Italian hot chocolate.

RivaReno is located at 280 Crown Street, Darlinghurst, and open Sun-Mon, 1pm – 11pm and Fri-Sat, 1pm – 12am. The new storefront will open in Shop 4, 33 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo, and the cafe and Gelateria and Affogato bar will be open 7am to 4pm and 12pm to 9pm respectively.
