QT Melbourne opens lush new rooftop bar

Simply titled The Rooftop one of QT Melbourne’s biggest draw cards is a stunning 11th floor bar mirroring the unique character the designer hotel has brought to Russell Street. The city’s skyline will play in the background of the split indoor-outdoor bar, which QT hope will become one of Melbourne’s biggest destinations as we edge into spring and look towards summer.

185 patrons can comfortably flow into The Rooftop which has been designed by QT’s in-house stylist and public areas designer Nic Graham, who has featured contemporary local furniture by Australian designer and producer Tait in the outdoor area, scattering the works among a palette of olive green, red and matte black. Creative Music Director Andrew Lewis will help reflect the style with a swanky curated playlist of new disco and house pumped out by a cutting edge sound system, pushed towards Melbourne’s late-night party crowd.

As for the drinks, QT aren’t holding back for their new bar with some very fine locals hand-crafting cocktails like the signature QT Rooftop G&T, made with West Winds sabre gin, elderflower quinine syrup, fresh lime, sugar, cucumber sparkling water, rosemary, and cucumber. Also on the list is the very summer-appropriate Yarra Valley Sour, built around Four Pillars Fin with fresh lemon, orange blossom, orgeat, egg white, pinot noir, and edible flowers. Rounding out the drinks menu is a collection of local spirits, house made tonics, and those oh-so-popular share-style cocktails.

While QT’s laneway bar, Hot Sauce, focuses on Korean and Japanese fusion foods, The Rooftop will be leaning more towards Southeast Asian bites like Minced Thai Beef Toast with green chilli, sweet basil, and sambal, Scotch Quail Eggs wrapped in Wagyu beef, mortadella, sesame and sticky black sauce, and some Polenta Crumbed Onion Rings with squid ink mayo.
