Qantas Group announce $19 flights and triple frequent flyer points

It looks like those long-rumoured $19 domestic fares are now a reality, as Jetstar and Qantas announce a number of sales and ground-breaking initiatives to “launch tourism”. This includes Jetstar putting 10,000 fares on sale for that sweet aforementioned price, encompassing 35 routes across 15 destinations.

Although the budget carrier has seen unprecedented demand since kicking the sale off yesterday morning, the carrier still has plenty of one-way $19 fares available. And this is on 22 routes, including Melbourne to Sydney, Sydney to Gold Coast, Melbourne to Byron Bay (Ballina), Brisbane to Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine), and Adelaide to Cairns.

Other services barely hike up in price, and remain under $100. This includes Brisbane to Mackay from $49, Sydney to Hamilton Island from $79, and Brisbane to Darwin from $79.

The Jetstar sale will run until over the weekend, so you haven’t got long. It’ll end at 11:59pm AEST on Monday 22nd June. But the allocation will likely sell out sooner than that.

Jetstar has also announced that pending the opening of Western Australian and Tasmanian borders, the carrier will also be offering sale fares to and from those parts of the country.

“There is a huge pent up demand for air travel, with people wanting to get away after months of being stuck at home”, said Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce, who cites research indicating that 75 per cent of Australians intend to fly in the next six months. ”

“There is huge pent up demand for air travel, with people wanting to get away after months of being stuck at home. Our research tells us more than 75 per cent of Australians intend to fly in the next six months,” Mr Joyce said. “This is a great opportunity to go to the amazing places in our own backyard that you haven’t got around to seeing like the Barossa Valley or the Great Barrier Reef.”

Qantas Group has also increased flexibility on bookings as well as putting in place a range of measures to ensure health is kept a priority at all times throughout the passenger journey. This follows the reintroduction of hundreds of flights per week by both Qantas and Jetstar.

You can find the full list of Jetstar sale fares below. Note that the travel periods differ, but all fall between 14th July and 31st October.
