Port Macquarie festival Tastings on Hastings announces 2016 program (NSW)

Port Macquarie’s annual festival Tastings on Hastings is back! Already in its 14th year, guests will be taken through three days of culinary adventure beside those sparkling waters that often come to define the small city. This year’s ‘Fire, Water, Harvest’ theme signals a more interesting twist by involving different senses for a heightened gastronomical experience, headlined by celebrity chefs Matt GolinskiMatt Wilkinson, and Nicolas Poelaert who will be hosting dinners and guided event tours on a program that also brings in everything from garden lunches, beer masterclasses, and a pop up oyster barn.

Aimed at showcasing local produce, artisans, vineyards and breweries, the festival has organized a Farmer’s Market, cooking demonstrations, and the wine and beer precinct as a few examples of the events scheduled for that weekend.

Friday beers kick off the first day of the festival in the form of a Beer Masterclass led by Matt Kirkegaard, whilst Wilkinson will be cooking up a feast for dinner with Poelaert at popular hotspot The Stunned Mullet.

On Saturday Golinski will be heading lunch with produce sourced from within the Locavore region. Meanwhile, an Oyster Barn will be popping up to allow guests some DIY shucking. At night, festival-goers can watch the evening light up with the Tastings Ignites Festival, featuring fire twirlers and art installations.

Sunday farewells the festival for another year with a huge showcase of produce from over 120 food, wine, beer, artisans and makers from around the region. Cooking demonstration by Matt Kirkegaard and Matt Golinski will feature alongside other classes and even a fermenting demo.
