Merivale add Zebra Bar to Enmore’s dynamic Queens Hotel (Sydney)

The opening of the Queens Hotel late last year marked Merivale’s first ever venture into Sydney’s inner-west, refreshing an Enmore institution into what has now become the go-to for its gorgeous upstairs cocktail bar, The Smelly Goat, and resident dumpling kitchen Queen Chow. Now the property has added Zebra Bar to that offering, completing the two-level venue with a cozy upstairs terrace that’s pushed as an ideal spot for group bookings and 40-capacity events.

Much like The Smelly Goat, Merivale have made excellent use of the hotel’s historic features, packing the space with character from an onyx marbled horse-shoe bar and dark stained timbers to splashes of deep green and gold, looking fantastic against a safari-inspired mural.

The bar is very much a collaborative effort from the team who have already positioned Queens Hotel as local favourite, sporting a selection of food from Queen Chow including aromatic duck spring rolls, pan fried and baked dim sum platters, and Sichuan pork noodle boxes. This sits with a cocktail list that has been curated by the Smelly Goat bar team, offering guests twists on classics like the Genghis Can with Wyborowa vodka, tomato hoisin, sriracha and shitake, and the Churchill’s Delight with Avion Anejo, Lillet Blanc, and Lapsang Souchong.
