Keg & Brew are doing vegemite pies and specially made 2-Up Pale Ale for ANZAC DAY (Sydney)

Along with Sydney’s annual ANZAC Day March, our national day of remembrance is often used to celebrate the relaxed way of life credited to this country. In other words, it’s always an excuse to spend the day with mates at one of Australia’s most beloved institutions: the pub. The harbour city’s seemingly endless collection of pubs always gets a work out on the 25th April, which is all the more reason to pick and choose the best to get the day going. Luckily the fine folk at The Good Beer Company are keeping things nice and simple for your big day out, drawing up a program that includes all-day games of 2-Up, an exclusive “Special Aussie” menu, and a whole heap of drink specials.

Quintessential Surry Hills pub Keg & Brew will be hosting 2-Up sessions from 12pm all the way to sundown while they tempt people along with a whole heap of cheap-as-chips drink specials, including $5 schooners of ‘Straya favourite VB, $5 schooners of house beers and ciders, and KB Ale/Cider. Though if you really want to turn things up a notch, the bar will also be stocking a very special Two Up Pale Ale that has been brewed by Mordialloc microbrewery Albatross Brewing Co.. Along with their sister pub The DOG Hotel in Randwick, K&B will be the only pub in NSW where you can grab a cold one of Two Up Pale Ale, a beer that was created in salute of the Young Veterans and dedicated to the Services Personnel, making good use of both Australian and New Zealand ingredients. 10% of all profits made from sales of the 2 Up Pale Ale, a schooner being $6.50, will be given in support of Young Veterans.

The K&B kitchen will be firing up to dish out specially made Aussie inspired dishes throughout the day, from The All Aussie Burger ($17) with a dry-aged beef patty, beetroot relish, aioli, cheese, bacon, a fried egg and a dill pickle, to The Happy Little Vegemite Pie ($14). Also on the menu is the huge Outback Aussie Parma ($25) with bacon, onion, BBQ sauce, cheese and a fried egg, along with a few other ANZAC inspired dishes that are sure to be just as easy to wash down with a cold one. The kitchen will be serving these fresh from 11am until late.
