Here’s what’s on the menu for Melbourne’s Night Noodle Market this month

After it’s time popped up in Sydney’s Hyde Park last month, the famed Night Noodle Market is heading on down for Melbourne’s annual Good Food Month for a eighteen nights of curated Asian hawker-style dining. We all know how it works; each year, various stalls from some of the country’s best food vendors remain popped up in a vibrant, open-air atmosphere serving signatures and exclusives to hordes of insatiable food lovers. It’s become such an important platform for many businesses that they usually go all-out in terms of creativity, coming up with dishes designed to stand out from the masses.

Aside from all the stalls, there’ll be a bunch of curated experiences spread across Birrarung Marr, including a pop-up Cellar Door experience dedicated to Brands Laira of the Coonawarra region, a Garden Beer with Pimms on tap, Menulog’s lazy-friendly “At Home Zone”, where people can get food delivered to their table, and a whole host of live music and DJ’s.

But it’s the food that fuels Night Noodle Markets, and this year guests should expect the following:

Grilled pork sliders from Hochi Mama; Korean rice bowls from Bibimbap; Korean fried chicken stuffed inside a cone-shaped egg-filled cheese waffle from Puffle; Vietnamese burritos from Little Kyoto; roasted pork belly in caramelised sauce with boiled egg noodles from Shallot Thai; grilled pork balls from Bangkok Street Food; Szechuan hawker style spicy chicken noodles from Mahjong; salted caramel and ginger greme brulee with peanut popcorn (torched to order) from The Brulee Cart; custard soaked cake topped with oreos, cookies, cream gelato, whipped cream and coca from Blackstar Pastry; and a special “Kamikaze Katsu” from Gelato Messina, where they serve sudachi lime gelato coated in red velvet cake and panko crumbs in a sandwich of fluffy white bread with yuzu sauce.

There’ll be plenty more food and drink in addition to the above so make sure you pop by while its on.
