Inspired by the humble ice cream sandwich, Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts are teaming up with Andy Bowden, pastry chef at Hartsyard, tasking the renowned pastry chef with reinventing the classic dessert to treat Sydney this summer.
With two delectable flavours to choose from – Frosted Chocotastic and Frosted Strawberry Sensation – these ice cream/pop tart hybrids aim to celebrate Australia’s love of desserts and the revival of favourites from the past.
“Aussies definitely have a soft spot for dessert and there’s a big nostalgic trend happening right now. I like to reflect on my own childhood memories when I’m creating a recipe and make something epic and over the top, which is what I’ve done with Pop-Tarts ice cream sandwiches. The recipes will look and taste decadent – I like people to eat with their eyes before their mouth,” said Bowden.
In an attempt to combat the hot and humid weather, the Pop-Tarts #CrazyGood caravan will be touring around four locations, providing samples of their two flavours along the way. And it’s pretty simple!

Although usually a man of many words, this is one well-kept secret by the chef who kept quiet when probed about what the flavours will be. Only time will tell…
