Sydney’s BL Burgers’ special of the week is the post-iso meal you deserve

It’s always worth paying attention to what Sydney’s now legendary BL Burgers are doing each week. They pretty much pioneered the now widespread trend of gourmet burger joints touting inventive, and often ridiculous, themed weekly specials.

Some of them have become deeply embedded in the passionate burger culture built in Sydney over the past few years, like the “Blame of Thrones” and “Don’t Be Jelly”. This week’s BL special will surely be up there, appropriating newbie russet potato chip brand Golden Chipees.

Dubbed “Chipee Off The Old Block”, the new burger is exactly the kind of indulgent post-iso meal Sydneysiders have been craving for these past few months. It’s built with a soft and flavour-rich BL beef pattie with American cheese, cheese curds, deep-fried thick cut bacon, gravy and maple aoili. Then the pièce de résistance is a pile of bacon and cheddar “chipees”. Cue chef kisses.

The price is a steady $18, but you get plenty of bang for your buck. As with all BL Burger specials, it’ll be available all week at Bar Luca, the birthplace of the BL Burgers brand, as well as Loaded by BL in Newtown and BL Burger stores in Parramatta, on Oxford Street, and in Bondi.
