Grill’d make a huge play for plant-based burgers in new partnership with Heston Blumenthal

Grilld

Michelin starred chef Heston Blumenthal has come on board to help Grill’d pick up their increasingly impressive plant-based game.

Using Fable, a mushroom-based meat, Heston has helped create four new burgers in a bid to add to the chain’s already stacked offering, which in the past few years has been fast moving towards redefining fast-casual food and it’s notorious lack plant-based options.

Amongst the four new burgers that sprouted up on the menu earlier this month, is the “Heston Fable Burger”, which the Michelin starred chef has made exclusively for Grill’d.

As per Blumenthal’s enthusiastic description, the Fable plant-based pattie has a “rich, satisfying mushroom flavour that tastes just like slow cooked meat”. On the signature, limited-edition Heston Fable Burger, this is complemented by hoisin sauce, the fresh texture of Japanese slaw, and lightly grilled tofu. It’s a profile inspired by Peking Duck pancakes, taking a hard left turn from the usual Grill’d offerings and playing on one of the signatures at Heston’s The Perfectionists Cafe in London.

While the Heston Fable Burger is only available at select Grill’d restaurants, in a very limited capacity, the other new Fable burgers are all

The other new Fable burgers on the menu include a Fable Spicy Cheeseburger, where a mushroom Fable pattie has been stacked alongside aged cheddar, Spanish onion, Dijon mustard, dill pickles, egg mayo, and Heston’s fire roasted spicy tomato sauce. There’s the Fable Truffle, with aged cheddar, cos, fresh basil, and truffle mayo. And the Fable Southern BBQ, with cabbage slaw, shredded carrot, Spanish onion, egg mayo, dill pickles, and native Davidson plum BBQ sauce.

All three of those are now available at all Grill’d stores for $14.50 each, for delivery, pick-up, or dine in.

The $35 Heston Fable Burger will require a booking to try, since there are only 4,000 of them available across Australia. Interest can be registered here.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the Heston Fable Burger to Grill’d. In partnering with Fable, we’ve had the opportunity to work with Heston Blumenthal, one of the world’s finest chefs, and expand our plant-based menu with four new Fable meaty mushroom burgers that taste just as good as the real thing”, said Grill’d Founder Simon Crowe. “It’s the next step in our mission to discover a whole new world of flavour and challenge the status quo with innovative, healthy, and mindfully made products”.
